Normally something of a shoulder season tribute to Sodom and Gomorra, filled with the best food, wine and scantily clad on the West Coast, Whistler Mountain has been known to open around the time of Cornucopia. Even if there is no skiing or riding you will find events like winemaker’s dinners, the Cornucopia Chef’s Challenge, Grad Gala Tastings and the Bubbles + Oceans after party.
The $150 Bubbles + Oceans all-in after party goes down right in the middle of Whistler Village at one of the most established restaurants in town, Araxi. In addition to all of the beautiful people, the party includes 20 of the best Champagne and Sparkling wine producers in the world, as well as Executive Chef James Walt’s musings on West Coast seafood.
For those who are as interested in mixing up good food as they are in cutting it up on a blue bird powder day, Cornucopia offers cooking and wine making seminars. These include truffle making sessions with Roger’s Chocolates and the popular Chef’s Trip to the Farm. Chef’s Trip to the Farm is a journey in organic farming and healthy cooking techniques with Executive Chef Vincent Stufano and the owner of Pemberton's North Arm Farm, Jordan Sturdy.
For all those interested in good sex above everything else, Cornucopia will definitely help you hit your spot. There is Turntables n' Lace at the Longhorn Saloon, featuring the lingerie of Shea Couturiere and Lara and Angela Cooney barely covering the hottest models in the mountains. Also, Burlesque III (The Return of Whistler's Naughty Party) has a reputation for stretching to the dark side, if that is your thing.
Although the party parades across most of the town, the epicenter of Cornucopia is the Whistler Convention Center. There are tons of great places to stay within walking distance but we highly recommend the Westin. Organizers always provide a number of accommodation deals for people who also buy event tickets, but you’d be best served to look around if you’re trying to save. Otherwise, just go to the Westin.
