The New York Times Ski Guide 2010 offers some great stories about little known ski and snowboard adventures. Mark Sundeen’s recent story on Sol Mountain Lodge is no exception.
Here is an excerpt from a classic back country ski adventure article “The Back of Beyond in British Columbia”:
“The helicopter went home, and there we were, stranded for the next seven days: miles from pavement, dead of winter, heart of wilderness. Suddenly the little lodge reeked of hubris, as if this square speck with its presumptuous right angles was expected to deflect those chaotic loads of snow bearing down from every direction.”
